Where to train in Kelowna

The hills, paths and beaches I actually use, with what each one is good for. Updated by season.

Mission Creek Greenway

Rutland / Mission

Long walks, easy runs, seniors

Flat, shaded, 16.5 km end to end. Where I take retirees and anyone coming back from injury.

16.5 km · flat · washrooms at EECO

Big White Ski Resort

56 km east

Ski conditioning, snowshoe cardio

December to April. The Big White Legs program runs every October so knees survive opening day.

Snowshoe trails · 1,755 m base

Dilworth Mountain Park

Glenmore

Short steep intervals, sunset walks

Ten minutes from anywhere. Steep enough for real intervals, short enough to fit before dinner.

1.5 km loop · 90 m gain

Wildfire smoke days

When the AQHI is 7 or above, every outdoor session in the programs has an indoor swap. Here's how I adjust intensity for the week.

Heat above 32°

July and August in the Okanagan mean 6am starts or lake finishes. How I schedule the summer so you keep training without cooking.
